RIDE" - WARNING! LINKS MAY CONTAIN NUDITY! "The Ride" started in Austin, Texas during Labor Day weekend 2001. Having fully recovered from HIV/AIDS related illnesses that started in 1997, and after embarking on an Internet search from 1998-2000 to find my soul mate without success, I decided to leave Austin and travel to various areas to visit people I had met on the Internet. During the years of 1998- 2000 I started letting go of material wealth and real estate I owned - this was all done without 2nd thought and with no new goals put into place at that time. I virtually became homeless after I sold my home in 1998 to extended family and started living with friends. During the summer of 2001 I quickly realized that I just needed to "let go" of everything and leave Austin - I just disappeared suddenly, telling no one that I was leaving. On Labor Day weekend I left Austin and headed for Missouri. My first extended stop was in Springfield, Missouri. The main goals of this ride were to find a partner AND just ride aimlessly without any preplanned routes- the other goals were to regain personal freedom and break down barriers of fear. The journey immediately took on new elements and purposes as I discovered the importance of truly experiencing Life and breaking down those barriers to regain the personal freedom I had "lost" in the 80's and early 90's. It was soon after 9/11/2001 when the real journey began and during the following years I met some fantastic people from all walks of life. The paths travelled and explored led to many new discoveries. I overcame fear. I became more enlightened in understanding & accepting of others and myself. I went deep into my soul, examining it right down to its core. I saw things most people don't ever see, went where many dare not go. I allowed myself to become vulnerable. More often than not I slept out in the elements, at times in parks, off dirt roads, picnic areas, by streams, rivers, lakes - usually in the most remote areas. A few days here & there with buddies. I wore my green flight suit over my chaps/jeans/shirt, leather jacket or vest depending on the weather, wool socks with insulated leather boots and carried my WalkMan under all that cover. My motorcycle was packed with the bare essentials. A small tent, sleeping bag, two tarps, camera, fleece vest, tool pouches, camelback canteen, cell phone, laptop, rain gear, extra leather jacket, chaps,jeans, a few dew rags, and socks/boxers. Socks, tee shirts, & boxers were always replaced at the local Wal-Mart. The pages/photos of people and places within this domain speak for themselves . I am currently working on putting more text captions within these pages. I'm still sorting, reviewing and editing the thousands of photographs I took - I have several data cards I have not even looked at yet. Digital cameras are a great invention but it takes a lot of time to look at, choose and edit those photos. All photos (except where noted) were taken by me. I also wish to acknowledge Steve Scott for the time he took in taking photos of me in Springfield, Missouri. The photos you see represent the world as seen through my eyes. Those taken of close friends and a few new buddies I met along the way are my tribute for their friendship and/or sharing - we had fun, we played we shared - THANK YOU! My father left when I was three and I grew up with a very dysfunctional family. Finally met my father in 1997 with visits over the telephone after years of searching for him. The important discovery I made in our conversations was why he deserted me and that the woman I grew up knowing as my mother was in fact my half sister. My biological mother was the woman I knew as my grandmother. I was sexually abused at the age of four or five by what I thought was my step-father (step brother). He sexually abused his own children, slept with his wife's mother, and abused his wife. I was the black sheep that changed colors, excelled in school, worked odd jobs as a teen and looked out after myself & my buddy Alec (he passed away in 82 in San Francisco). Alec and I left Kentucky/Ohio** in 1971 for San Francisco on our 1971 Honda 750cc motorcycles. We lived in San Francisco 1971 - 1982. Alec passed in 1982. I left the Bay Area. I lived in Memphis 1982 - 1983. I lived in Austin 1983 - 2001. I sold my house in Austin in 1998, rented until 2001. I became semi-homeless, by choice** , Sept 2001. I am not looking for a place to live or park. I've lived on the road, stayed with friends, lived on bought raw land since 2001. I currently reside near Dawsonville Georgia, staying with former partner - we're family & friends. I take care of my share, myself and don't take any free rides. SEXUALITY & ATTITUDE - POZQUEERS.COM I lived a predominately bisexual lifestyle between the years of 1968 through 1997. During 1998 - 2006 my preferences turned more towards men, modern primitives. I made a decision in 2006 to not become intimately/sexually involved with women whatsoever. I now consider myself as being queer and am turned on only by primitive men. I do not lean towards the feminine or the masculine - my passions are raw and pure - two spirited** . I made a decision in 2006 to "quit chasing" & I no longer trip into that slippery hole. I am also planning a major trip in late Spring or Early Summer to South America or Asia, Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina, or Thailand - haven't decided which country yet. I'm strongly leaning towards Peru. Will of course fly there, use trains/buses will there, stay in hostels. I'm actively looking for someone who may want to share that adventure! I'm planning 3 or 4 weeks of touring there myself. Anyone who seriously want to go there should contact me. You pay your own way and don't have to stay as long as I do.
