“GONE WALKABOUT” JULY 2007 · Walkabout is an Australian pidgin (or perhaps quasi-pidgin) term referring to the belief that Australian Aborigines "go walkabout" at the age of thirteen in the wilderness for six months as a rite of passage. They then trace the path of the ceremonial ancestors of their tribe, following the exact route that those ancestors took, and imitating in a fashion, their heroic deeds. This meaning has lead to a jocular modern usage, whereby someone who has unexpectedly wandered off to destination uncertain is said to have 'gone walkabout'. Walkabout may be used to refer to a person's desire to travel without a planned itinerary or set destination; the more common English term is wanderlust. Wanderlust (Middle High German: wandern, to wander, and Lust, desire) is a German loanword. It is commonly defined as a strong desire to travel, or by having an itch to get out and see the world. Some consider it to be a simple linguistic compound of wander and lust. From WIKIPEDIA Retired off of 2 wheel iron horses (somewhat) due to health issues has NOT retired the Dingo from Living Life! The old drifter is still drifting AT LARGE be it on rail hopping, walking, flying, scootering, and can show up just about anywhere at anytime! Homeless hobo old scooter tramp drifter is being a nomad right NOW - BY CHOICE! No responsibilities to anyone except for myself! Seeing, Living & Embracing Life Without Fear - ALWAYS! .....Still Living and Loving Life without fear..... …..The only barriers we have to our happiness and true freedom are those we create within ourselves.....I can't remember who said that but there is a lot of Truth in that statement....AND if we can control our addictions, easier said than done, we also truly have reached a purer sense of freedom.......I believe that when people come to the edge of the cliff and look to the other side, too often they tend to look down and rather than jump to the other side, they stay where they are out of fear of falling or not making it over to that other side. I cannot do that - when I come to the edge I look over – not down and take that leap, knowing that there is always something better on the other side of the cliff. If my instinct tells me to turn around and look for another path, I do so without hesitation and no 2nd thought - I have discovered too many times that if I take the time to think about it all and start having doubts, then I start creating new barriers not just for myself but others as well......By not taking those leaps of faith blindly I would never really know where a particular path might lead and could be losing out on something very special waiting for me. It's taken me years to get to this point, but I'm getting closer to where I want to be! And it gets easier! Jim Thurman Desiderata Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. But let not this blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment It is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy. Max Ehrmann, 1927 The Blind Man He's never seen a color or the look of despair. He watches blindly with ears and a shallow stare. But, he knows beauty isn't judged by the face he cannot see. So, he listens and his touch is sensitive to what he's left to be. The blind can't see, the way we stare their way. Some might say, that they pray for better days. We can't see our own judgmental ways. And we can't see Perfection of blindly ways. The strange man He's got a marble missing up them stairs. He's hounded and laughed at, cause of the mix underneath his hair. But, he lives in a private world, that he says is first-rated. He's far from this world or ours that's so complicated. Better this way, the strange man, he knows. He's safe from things that sanity will show. We can't feel the beauty they enslave. So we resent their perfect, primal ways. Jim Thurman 2000 .....I finally realized that I owed it to myself to take the risks and just do what needed to be done. Sometimes we have to give up the things we love, give away much of what we own, that which anchors us and prepare ourselves both emotionally and physically for that new journey..... .....Giving up & letting go of iron steeds, Clay, the PamDog, and Family were the most difficult things I have had to let go of in my entire Life – and letting go has allowed me to once again “break[ing] down those barriers to freedom” and regain that freedom of mind, body and spirit which once again leads me onto another path – “lonely but never alone as the spirits of those who love(d) me are always within and around me” – There will be no laptop, no email, no cell phone, no more treatments for disease – don’t want them and don’t need them! I’ve got my sleeping bag, medicine bag/rattle, tambourines, a great pair of lace up leather boots, walking clothes, mp3 player with a few CDs, – most importantly though is that I still have two feet for walking, eyes for seeing, ears for hearing and that spirit within that will guide me as I wander aimlessly thereabout experiencing the beauty of why a mans' alive.....I’m ready for my “walkabout”..... Jimmy Thurman "At Large" [2001] [2007] Have you ever noticed that negativity strikes primarily in the area of your weakness? It rarely tests you in the field of your strength because in that type of showdown, it will lose. The negative forces know that, and they have a kind of intelligence that will instinctively go for your weak areas. Just about the time you thinking you've really got an area mastered, the negative power comes in to make sure you've mastered it. If you have, you're free. If you haven't, you find yourself still bound by the laws of the lower worlds. And even when you pass the tests and prove your spiritual strength, you have to continually exercise those strengths, because if you slip from spiritual attentiveness, you will be found out. John Roger Main Entry: Dark energy: a hypothetical form of energy that permeates space and exerts a negative pressure, which would have gravitational effects to account for the differences between the theoretical and observational results of gravitational effects on visible matter. Dark energy is not observed, but rather inferred, along with dark matter, as a probable explanation for these effects. Main Entry: dark Pronunciation: 'därk Function: adjective 1 a : devoid or partially devoid of light : not receiving, reflecting, transmitting, or radiating light b : transmitting only a portion of light 2 a : wholly or partially black b of a color : of low or very low lightness c : being less light in color than other substances of the same kind 3 a: DISMAL, GLOOMY b : lacking knowledge or culture : UNENLIGHTENED c: relating to grim or depressing circumstances 4 a : not clear to the understanding b : not known or explored because of remoteness 5 : not fair in complexion : SWARTHY Main Entry: en·abler Pronunciation: i-'nA-bl&r, -b&l-&r Function: noun one that enables another to achieve an end; especially one who enables another to persist in self-destructive, disorganized or chaotic behavior by providing excuses or by making it possible to avoid the consequences of such behavior All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible. | They say "two wrongs don't make a right".....THAT TRUTH may apply in almost any given situation. There are people in this world who have no conscience whatsoever. Hurt "the Dingo" - he'll hike his leg, piss on you, then move on never looking back. Causing permanent harm or injury is wrong. There's the old age question of "how evil can evil be." Only evil people would know how evil , evil can be! I'm not ready to "go down" quite just yet! Nor am I going to allow anyone to "take me down" before my time. As an old friend of mine said one day as we watched the hellish winds of nature blow over our heads while she was minding the hen in the oven, "It's not my day to die."
